General Outline of Services (Services may vary due to special circumstances)
- Consult with the student and parents to strategize admission process based upon student’s academic record, extracurricular interests, and possible career goals
- Complete a thorough evaluation of student’s stats, including standardized test scores, academic transcript, and teacher commentary to determine admissibility
- Administer diagnostic assessment tests of standardized tests to yield baseline scores and generate a full, diagnostic report
- Provide a personalized profile and usage of Guided Path website
- Evaluate Birkman and other personality assessment mosaics and career profile inventories to identify academic interests and prospective careers
- Develop an individualized plan to enhance admissibility
- Pinpoint the “reach,” “target,” and “likely” prospective college selections based upon admission criteria
- Strategize summer plans for employment opportunities, internships, college visits, interviews, test prep, athletic camps and/or academic programs
- Formulate travel itineraries for campus visits, information sessions, and tours
- Discuss various application choices, such as early decision, early action, and regular decision
- Provide a comprehensive consultation on all written application components, including critiques of student essays and résumés from a writing specialist (Note: All college application essays shall be solely the work of the student.)
- Facilitate necessary correspondence between the student and admissions and athletic offices or respective department heads
- Recommend materials and resources to student and parents to maximize opportunities for success
- Provide essential information regarding merit, athletic, and need-based scholarships
- Familiarize student and/or parents with financial aid programs
- Conduct a mock evaluative or informational interview session, if applicable
- Furnish student and parents with a calendar and timetable for all testing and admissions deadlines
- Contact institutions on student’s behalf, upon request of student and parents
- Strategize a thorough plan if student receives a deferral or waitlist status
- Prepare for transition to college by providing information on student housing, initial course selection, registration, and Greek life at student’s selected college
